A view from the side.
The top board contains control and pulse train generating circuitry. The bottom contains the Cockroft-Walton chain. Separating the two is metal substrate. Temporarily repositioned it a yellow capacitor. The OEM capacitor fails quite and often and is replaced by a more robust one.

Several features are worth pointing out here. The large black chip at the front of the base is a custom made CMOS address and control voltage unit. Behind it are a pair of op-amps (one of these is obscured by the yellow capacitor.)
